October 3, Hugo Queirós
Today, clarinettist Hugo gives us an exciting look behind the scenes at the Park Avenue Armory in New York, where we are currently presenting several performances of the unique concert installation "11,000 Strings" by Georg Friedrich Haas:
"The first time I played 11,000 Strings by Georg Friedrich Haas was truly unforgettable. The piece is a real challenge for our senses! Imagine the sound - a huge, imposing hammering, a wave of percussion and tones that merge into a symphony of vibrations. The feeling of being part of this storm of sound is something quite unique for me. The sound fills the entire room as if the atmosphere itself is being taken over, creating an energy that is difficult to put into words. In the midst of all the chaos and thundering pianos, there are these fleeting, crystal clear moments where the intimate microtonal sounds of the pianos unfold. When I think of our concerts in New York, I can hardly contain my excitement. And if I manage to get through New York without getting lost on the subway, accidentally stumbling into a movie set or being persuaded by a street vendor to buy something I definitely don't need, I'll consider the whole trip a great success."
