After a performance with Klangforum Wien at Transart in Bolzano and a concert with my band 5:15, my daughter Theresa and I will be traveling to the USA in September , where we will first stop off in California. The Griffith Observatory in Hollywood with an original Galileo Galilei telescope is well worth a visit, as is the sprawling University of California-Riverside, where I once studied drums and big band. The most impressive part of this trip was Death Valley.
After eight days of "California Dreaming", we fly directly to New York, where G.F. Haas' 11,000 Strings awaits us. The Park Avenue Armory not only looks impressive, but also has amazingly good acoustics. Several concerts in one week, and the Ensemble and the 50 pianists manage to maintain the musical tension until the last performance. We enjoy a little refreshment on the occasion of the premiere. On a free evening, we visit a jazz club and meet the drummer Billy Hart - he is the GOAT (Greatest of All Time)!
Back in Vienna, I'm going straight to the ORF Radiokulturhaus, where I'm giving an improv concert that same evening. And now I'm getting ready for two exciting concerts as part of the Wien Modern festival at the Wiener Konzerthaus !"
