The Main Series
In the course of seven concerts, Klangforum Wien portrays the powers inherent in a world on the brink – whether in the shape of the flickering beauty with which Pierre Boulez pursues an explosive amour fou, the intransigency with which Beat Furrer lends musical expression to the heightened despair of desire, the airiness with which Georg Friedrich Haas atomises the world of sounds, the darkness with which Clara Iannotta’s birds of paradise circle inside lost hearts, the boiling energies with which Alex Paxton imbues the ensemble’s musicians, Wolfgang Mitterer’s flagrant appropriation of the world of waltzes created by Johann Strauss II – or indeed of the explosive love constellations, drawn from the fund of 100 years of music theatre, in the innovative format of Amopera.
In the upcoming season, the passionate and fiery musical guidance will be provided by our two new Conductors in Residence Elena Schwarz and Vimbayi Kaziboni as well as by the conductors Tim Anderson, Sylvain Cambreling, Beat Furrer and Ingo Metzmacher.
