11,000 Strings at Holland Festival
Under the musical direction of Bas Wiegers, Klangforum Wien performed the Dutch national premiere of Georg Friedrich Haas' unique composition 11,000 Strings on 22 June 2024. As part of the Holland Festival, the audience was able to experience this immersive, microtonal universe for 50 pianos and an ensemble at the Gashouder Amsterdam.
Following its world premiere at the Bolzano Festival (August 2023) and further concerts in the Great Hall of the Wiener Konzerthaus at the festival Wien Modern (for the first time in the original version with ensemble, November 2023) and at the Prague Spring Festival (June 2024), the extraordinary sound installation now counts a total of four venues already and has been repeatedly realised thanks to the Chinese piano manufacturer Hailun Pianos.
