Have you ever climbed into a CANYON? If you stand in it and raise your eyes, a section of the sky comes into focus; if you look at the ground, you can feel magmatic energy. These elemental forces are brought together in the 7 concerts at the Wiener Konzerthaus The Ensemble constantly pushes the horizons of the new forward.
"Listening to something new is always a borderline experience - enlightening, shattering and challenging, but always a very special state of energy for the self."
- Director Peter Paul Kainrath
In the course of the new program, Francesca Verunelli (ÖEA) questions the nakedness of a voice, James Dillon (UA) examines the ritual dynamics of the ensemble body and Martin Smolka creates angelic music. Gerhard Stäbler 's acoustic journey was inspired by the soundscapes of San Francisco's garbage collection. Loops without end by Bernhard Lang meet archipelagic diversity in Laure M. Hiendl (UA) and Luxa M. Schüttler (UA). The twinkling of stars over a canyon in Utah stands for a gigantic masterpiece by Olivier Messiaen. An arc from the Baltic to the Silk Road is traced in the continuation of Tower of Babel with new works by composers from Eurasia. Percussive bodies traverse the vast landscape and dizzying heights in the music of Unsuk Chin and Enno Poppe (ÖEA) with leading percussion soloist Vivi Vassileva. György Kurtág's aphoristic messages from Miss Trussova - in collaboration with IRCAM - encounter the digital-electronic sound energies in the latest compositions by Isabel Mundry (ÖEA) and Márton Illés (ÖEA). - These are the coordinates of new worlds of sound that will take on fascinating forms between numerous premieres and first performances in the 25/26 concert cycle.
