Quadro Italiano - Cycle concert with Emilio Pomàrico
We witnessed a very special evening at the sixth cycle concert on 17 March 2024.
The Italo-Argentinian composer and conductor Emilio Pomàrico, a long time and close collaborator of the ensemble, conducted his arrangement of a key work Morceaux lyriques by Niccolò Castiglioni for oboe and ensemble as well as his recently completed Concerto per 24 strumenti (Paralipomena a Caractères (1964) di N. Castiglioni) for their world premiere. His "Concerto" was tailor-made for the ensemble of Klangforum Wien. The piece Chemins II (su Sequenza VI) by Luciano Berio, heralded as a pioneer of contemporary music in Italy, completed the programme of this "quadro italiano". Paul Beckett on the viola and Markus Deuter on the oboe made a huge impression as soloists to fervent acclamation by the audience.
Our traditional TUTTI get-together with Emilio Pomàrico, the ensemble, the team and our guests rounded off this extraordinary evening.
