Courtyard Concerts Graz 2020

In this multi-part project, Klangforum Wien reflects on the impact of the new, spanning the familiar courtyard of one's home as the most intimate dimension of a city's urban fabric. In the shared experience of courtyard concerts, all of which are rigorously contemporary, the listeners develop an idea of sound for their own buildings; the current distrust of a traditional concert visit gives way to the familiar setting of one's own surroundings, which are suddenly filled with sound.
The rigid relationship between a seated audience and musicians on a stage is dissolved; windows and balcony doors are opened and the living rooms become temporary boxes from which one experiences unheard-of new sounds.
