Against the background of digital exhaustion and the necessity to develop Covid-19 compatible concert formats for the cultural and music enterprise in the foreseeable future, Klangforum Wien has decided to modify the formats of "close" encounters with the new in music for the new requirements. Originally conceived for living rooms in the city of Graz, the project included a way of digital communication between musicians and audience.

The pandemic and the corresponding lockdown measures have radically challenged our society in its usual rituals in a very short time. In this context, the dialogue between art and science intended by the Graz Year of Culture 2020 and the corresponding reflection on forms of urban future seem more pertinent than ever.

Happiness Seriousness. A Counterpoint. - Trailer
On 06.05.2021, the Klangforum Wien presented its cinematic realization of 'Happiness Seriousness. A Counterpoint.' at the Acht Brücken Festival in Cologne.
Now, the focus is on the inner courtyards of a wide variety of residential areas, preferably in all districts of the city of Graz. The inner courtyard as the urban space in front of the living room will gain special importance in the future.
The Klangforum Wien invites the residents to a new familiarity within sight and hearing distance and explores the acoustic space by means of strong positions of contemporary music creation. Windows and balcony doors are opened and the living spaces become temporary boxes from which to experience unheard-of new things. In the shared experience of this new concert experience, the audience:inside will develop an idea of sound for their own constructions, and the current distrust of a traditional concert visit will give way to familiarity with their own environment, which itself begins to sound.
