No more excuses: In 2024, the Academy of Second Modernism was founded as part of the Vienna Festival | Free Republic of Vienna, an initiative that promotes gender equality in music culture and aims to change centuries-old inequality. Every year , the Akademie Zweite Moderne invites ten internationally influential female composers to Vienna.
Feminist, global, and for everyone: The academy's goal is to increase the proportion of works by female composers in concert and music theater, expand the traditional canon, and create a committed system of partner institutions around the world. The result is a female, global, diverse composition and performance network!

As in previous years, this year's composers will perform in two concerts with Klangforum Wien. The theme of this year's summit meeting of the academy is "Considering Appropriation."

In a world of fantasies of omnipotence, wars, and religious conflicts, music reclaims space for humanity. Beyond the divine  No More Excuses II celebrates connectedness as a transcendental force that permeates everything.
