Im Strudel der Zeit: Messiaen und seine Schüler

Last year, Klangforum Wien cast a spell over the audience at the Lausitz Festival. This year, Ensemble returns to present a program dedicated to Messiaen's legacy. The voice of Olivier Messiaen meets the spectral music of Tristan Murail, inspired by him, like an echo of past impressionism, and finally the work of his pupil George Benjamin, who combines musically complex architecture with sensual beauty. Messiaen's contemporary Gérard Grisey also describes a turning point in time with "Vortex Temporum" (In the Vortex of Time).
