Selecting a group of works by Arnold Schönberg, as well as by his students Alban Berg and Anton Webern, Richard Dünser has created some remarkable versions for chamber orchestra. Taking inspiration from some landmark works of the Second Viennese School, originally conceived for piano, the composer from Vorarlberg, Professor for Music Theory and Composition at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, has written a series of “newly re-composed and re-created pieces”, especially arranged for Klangforum Wien. The concert programme for the Master Concerts Bregenz, which was put together in cooperation with the ensemble (conducted by Katharina Wincor), also forms part of a recording project which will be released in the spring of 2024, in celebration of Richard Dünser’s 65th birthday.
