An ecstatic universe of sound, shimmering micro-polyphony, polyrhythmic serrations – in his time, György Ligeti greatly extended the realm of new music. Claude Vivier salutes us from Uzbekistan with his work «Bouchara», and in «Xi», the Korean expression for the smallest unit of things, Unsuk Chin embarks on an exploration of the primordial cell.
The concert from our cycle series BRUCH.PUNKT will take place at two starting times: 18.00 + 20.30.
Between the concerts - FERMATE
As a prelude to the anniversary year on the occasion of the 100th birthday of György Ligeti , the stage is set for 100 Metronomes: as part of FERMATE, his Poème symphonique. Musical Ceremonial for 100 Metronomes (1962) will be performed. In the ticking overall sound of the metronomes, rhythmic structures of varying complexity are formed until the last metronome* falls silent.
