Florian Bogner works as a freelancer in the fields of sound direction, live electronics, sound engineering, and computer music. Since 2026, he has been a Senior Artist for Live Electronics at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. From 2018 to 2026, he headed the sound department at the Theater an der Wien. From 2003 to 2005 and in 2012–13, he was a university lecturer at the University of Applied Arts Vienna.
Between 2014 and 2016, he was a research fellow in the Swiss National Science Foundation-funded research project “Performance Practice of Electroacoustic Music” at the ICST in Zurich, where he taught until 2026.
Bogner studied at the Institute of Electroacoustics at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. From 2013 to 2016, he pursued a master’s degree in electroacoustic composition at the Zurich University of the Arts, which he completed in 2017.
At Klangforum Wien he is responsible for electroacoustic design, supervision, and implementation, as well as sound engineering. His projects have taken him to Wien Modern, the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Opéra Bastille in Paris, the Salzburg Festival, the Ultima Festival in Oslo, the Darmstadt Summer Courses, Rainy Days Luxembourg, the Donaueschingen Music Festival, the National Theater in Mannheim and other.
He handled recording, mixing, and mastering for various CD productions, including for the labels Kairos and col legno. In addition, he composed music for stage productions as well as for documentaries and commercials. Together with Markus Urban, he founded the electronic music duo Kilo. With saxophonist Lars Mlekusch, he formed the duo Saxophonic. In addition to his concert activities at home and abroad, he has released several CDs.
